It's hard to believe how quickly time goes until you reach a monumental holiday and have to step back and acknowledge another year passing.
It was a wonderful, relaxing day. We trooped out to my parent's house where all memories live and spent the day ski-dooing (one crash where my bottom was bruised), walking the dog, opening presents, EATING, playing games, and generally sharing in a lot of merriment.
I always feel such a sense of melancholy when it's all over, almost overwhelmingly sad that it can't last forever. I have to remind myself how blessed I am and thank God for the heartwarming memories that are created each year.
One of the most touching memories this year was when Mom and Dad gifted us three girls a photo album of when we were babies. They have had these baby pictures of us for as long as I can remember and have always meant to scrapbook them. I just didn't believe it would ever happen! I guess they spent the last couple months together crafting each page of photos and reminiscing over our childhoods. When we opened them and realized what they were I burst into tears. It was so beautiful.
It does force you to focus, I should try to be this joyous all year round!
