Kitchen Day

I had a wonderful day today (yesterday by the time I'm writing this post).  It was one of those relaxing holiday days where I was able to bake some bread from scratch.  That is the sign of a good day to me because it means I've got no pressures to be anywhere else and can take my time in the kitchen. It's such a lengthy process too, probably 4 hours + with the rising time and baking time... but it led to the creation of two beautiful crusty loaves:
They are so lovely.  The recipe came from the Smitten Kitchen blog here.  I quite liked it, very basic.  You could play around with it to make different flavours I believe.

After which I sat around and took pictures of my new butcher block cutting board which I love.  I can't help it, I love this little guy:

Yummy, so warm and smooth - I do love to chop on this guy

His battle scars

This is art, people, ok?
I love this day... and it makes me happy that I recorded the reasons why!
Also on this day our friends came over and played a board game and partook of the homemade bread with spinach dip, so it was warm feelings all around.
